At BinkyBro, everything we make stems from who we are. And our latest collab with the San Diego Padres might be our favorite part of the BinkyBro story yet.

San Diego is where it all started for us. Picture the surf/skate/sun lifestyle every SoCal TV show made you jealous of, and that’s literally our co-founder Matt’s life. He remembers getting dropped off at Scripps Pier almost daily after school to surf and getting picked up when it was dark. It’s the ‘90s dream of youthful freedom we’re trying to keep alive here at BinkyBro.

Growing up in the heart of San Diego meant a lot of things for Matt, including the fact that he would forever and always be a Padres fan. Small market? We like it that way. Losing record? Fans show up anyway. For a local, cheering for the Padres has always been about community – specifically, a community that knows how to get outside and have a good time.

Most baseball stadiums say something about their city, but none more than Petco Stadium, the home of the gold and brown. This spot is the ultimate mix of culture and sport, with ocean views and salty sea breezes you can feel from every seat in the house. It’s a destination for tourists and locals alike, built right into San Diego’s thriving downtown food and bar scene.
Our best days at work are when it feels more like play, and we can safely say teaming up with the Padres was nothing but fun. This collab has been a bucket list item we’re so stoked to cross off, and it’s only available online and inside the fan store at the Padres Stadium. So let’s get into it –

Let’s start with the two snapbacks – fresh not only for their looks, but because they were made in partnership with New Era. New Era is the OG in athletic fitted caps, and the exclusive on-field supplier to the MLB since the ‘90s, so teaming up with them makes this collab next level legit. Park BLVD comes in a neutral bone base with classic gold Padres logo and brown cording detail across the brim. Friar Faithful references the iconic Padres mascot and draws on retro surf stripes in Padres brown and gold. The older sizes of both styles come with a proper plastic snapback, while the infant and toddler sizes have a softer velcro attachment. (Like we said, everything we do stems from who we are, and first and foremost we’re parents.)

It wouldn’t be a proper summer drop without our signature Barney Patrol sunhat. This version features a fresh SD logo with brown piping around the rim, so you can rep your team all the way from the playground to the playa.

For tees and hoodies, we’ve got two different designs on two colorways each. We went with bone and brown as our base colorways so the iconic Padres gold could pop.
Our friar tee and hoodie feature the Padres Friar in a pair of flip flops. To a newcomer, this bald dude with a baseball bat might have you scratching your head. But Friar is the stuff of Padres legend – definitely a quirky mascot but inarguably one of the most beloved.

Not to go full History Class on you, but here’s a fun fact: the name “Padre” means “father” in Spanish. It was chosen as the team name to honor the Franciscan priests who settled the San Diego area. But we kind of like imagining a secondary meaning where Padre refers to all the Dads in the stadium taking their little ones out to the ball game.
Our Skelly design also comes in a hoodie and a tee. It’s a clean graphic mashup of all things BinkyBro and Padres: the classic Padres logo, SD wordmark, and a few BinkyBro patches to mark our seal of approval. All set off, of course by a skateboarding skelly swinging his baseball bat.

Last but not least, meet RIP SD. This design is super limited and comes only in a bone-colored tee. We wanted to pay homage to the classic SD surf dude who boards through town in his Padres gear, only make him a skeleton because that’s what we do.

Seeing our BinkyBro fam in co-branded Padres gear has been a full circle moment for us. Grab yours online, or if you happen to be in San Diego this summer, hit up a game and check us out inside the fan store. Til then, Go Padres!
